October 13th of 2025 marks the United States Navy’s 250th anniversary. Founded as the Continental Navy on October 13th, 1775, the Navy has grown from a small, ragtag force barely able to fend off dangers threatening America’s shores to the greatest maritime fighting force in human history.
To celebrate these 250 years, as well as have some fun with Halloween nearly upon us, let’s gather deep down in the bowels of the ship—down here on the orlop deck. Let’s drink coffee, huddle in the dark and share some Navy history liberally mixed with the ghost stories still haunting the Navy’s nightmares!
